HAWKING (Vancouver Prog/Alternative)
Hawking is a Progressive Alt Rock foursome from Vancouver, BC. They combine powerful, melodic vocals with surgically tight, interlocking guitar riffs and adventurous rhythms to create a sound as dense and enigmatic as it is catchy. Hawking's new single "COMFORTABLE" fluently skirts pop sensibilities with interesting musicianship, continuing their tradition of making dynamic, passionate music that is both challenging and accessible. Known for being one of Vancouver's hardest-touring independent bands, Hawking's most recent 50-date run took them across North America to spread the word about their new self-titled EP. Released on July 14th 2015, the EP was immediately met with an onslaught of acclamatory reviews and a healthy dose of blog buzz. The lead single "Safe and Sound" premiered on PureVolume, who raved about its “fluttering melodies as it intricately builds and soars to the infectious chorus". It quickly became the number 1 most played Rock song on the site, holding that position for 4 consecutive weeks.
The idea for Hello Holiday’s debut album was conceived in Montreal and inspired by the growing pains of dealing with change away from home. Front-man, Jeff Valentini, documented his personal, yet relative experiences over the course of a few years while living in Montreal and began pre-production recordings in his West End apartment. Having grown home-sick over the past 5 years of being away, he decided it was time to return to his hometown of Sudbury Ontario. A mixture of being broke, thrilled to be home, and itching to get his works finalized, Jeff converted his mother’s basement into a proper recording studio with the help of engineer and long time friend, Zachary Lamothe. They proceeded to record his debut album “Nightmares and Fairy Tales”.
Patrick Yasko is a classically trained guitar player who loves to delve into as many styles of music as possible Not just a taste however, as he prefers the whole thing and has developed phenomenal skills using several different musical and playing styles. Frontman of the local rock band The Radissons, Patrick always puts on a great show and dazzles the audience with his virtuoso skills.
