d3fuNcTi0n is Kipp Grose

d3fuNcTi0n is the noise I create when I get mad and sad. A personal project of musical exploration.

I never liked filling out biographies.  What do people care about?  What do you care about?  I get mad and sad and i make music about it.  I've played instruments all my life so i decided to take a shot at channelling irritating emotions into something positive.  I bought some gear, built a home studio and enjoy spending countless hours making noise.   It's an outlet for me, a reflection upon the world, a force that drives me and some other meaningful sounding bullshit.

In 2009, I finally finished my record, d3viaNT.  It was my first effort at creating completed songs and recording them all on my own. venting and lamenting and sexual best describes the themes of the album which came out sounding kinda like a Nine Inch Nails record.  it was a learning experience in creativity and though it may be a little rough around the edges, it's a great record with great moments that I'm quite proud of.  download d3viaNT.

2010 was a year of writers block for me.  I had a few moments of creative devine intervention, most notably the song Angel that I released during the summer, but it was a difficult year to produce music.  Fed up with writers block, I decided to stop hanging on the past.  It seemed like trying to hold on to my thoughts and ideas to finish them was holding me back, so in a brash move, i decided to "kill" all works in progress and go all tabula rasa in 2011.  I released Purged in December, a collection of songs that almost were. download Purged.

Right now, I'm quietly (ha!) working on new material.   shhhh.
