Custom built and multi-genre, The Asylum started as an all ages concert space in 2015 and became a licensed establishment in 2016. Founded by Mark and Shannon Howitt, who had a dream to create a bar that bands and artists of modern genres could have a place to perform in Sudbury, Ontario Canada. Being a touring musician himself, Mark had a vision and goal develop from his experiences traveling. Taking what he saw while touring to create an ideal venue to host concerts and bands of all styles of music in Sudbury. Countless hours of determination with the help of friends, volunteers and members of the local music community helped make The Asylum what it is today.
The Asylum has quickly grown to become a favorite spot to watch bands perform and special events in the Nickel City and in Northern Ontario. Ever growing and evolving, The Asylum has become known for it's top notch sound and lighting production. An open concept live atmosphere, friendly service and quality entertainment every week makes the experience at The Asylum unique and fitting for each occasion. Many well established artists have performed at The Asylum spanning several types of musical expressions and has given bands the opportunity to play Sudbury on their cross Canada tours as opposed to driving through without a show.
Booking everything from rock, folk, punk, metal, hip hop and everything in between, The Asylum is the place to be in Sudbury to enjoy a personable concert experience.
